Weather Guidelines
It's a common misconception that pest control treatments are ineffective if rain is in the forecast. In reality, most professional pest control products are designed to withstand normal weather conditions and continue working even after rainfall. As a matter of fact, a healthy dose of watering can even help the service be MORE effective.
Continue reading below for how we handle rainy days.

Generally speaking, when there is rain forecasted in the area, we will still make an attempt to go by your house to at least evaluate if the treatment can be done. There are a couple of conditions that we look for to help determine if your service can be completed:
1. Is it raining when we arrive - if the answer is yes, then we will more than likely reschedule your treatment. If the rain is light enough and not actually sticking, we may perform the service.
2. Is there standing water around the foundation or in the yard - when this occurs, we will typically reschedule the treatment, but this usually only happens after a heavy rain and/or several days of rain. Yards typically dry quickly here in the Houston area.
Even if it has just rained, we sometimes may wait a little bit for areas to dry, then perform the treatment.
Why You Shouldn't Cancel Your Pest Control Service Because Rain Is Forecasted
1. Professional Products Are Weather-Resistant - Many of the products used by licensed pest control professionals (like Family First Pest Control) bond to surfaces and dry quickly. Once applied and allowed to dry, rainfall typically will not wash them away.
2. Rain Can Increase Pest Activity - Many pests, including ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, and rodents, become more active before and after rain as they search for food and shelter. Keeping your treatment appointment ensures protection when pest pressure may actually be increasing.
3. Preventative Treatments Work Best on Schedule - Pest control is most effective when treatments are performed consistently. Delaying service can create gaps in protection and allow pest populations to rebound, making future infestations more difficult to control.
4. Most Treatments Target Areas Protected From Rain - Many applications are made around foundations, entry points, eaves, garages, and other sheltered areas where rainfall has little to no impact on the treatment.
5. We can rotate between different products to account for weather conditions. Some products we use actually work better when watered in!
